Lizard Wizard
Lizard Wizard review
Lizard Wizard is a delightful strategy game that took me by surprise. It’s a clever, well-designed game from the creators of Raccoon Tycoon, and I loved how it expanded on that game’s mechanics with added depth and strategy. While I was initially drawn in by the charming name and art, I quickly became absorbed in the gameplay.
The game revolves around becoming the most powerful Arch-Mage by recruiting wizards, building towers, researching spells, and summoning familiars. Each turn offers a variety of actions, from gathering magical reagents to bidding for wizards in an auction. The strategic choices and the constant balancing act of resource management kept me engaged throughout the game.
While the game can take a while to learn, the tutorial videos on YouTube are a great resource. Once you grasp the rules, the game flows beautifully, and the strategic depth is truly rewarding. However, I do agree with some reviewers that the game's ending feels a bit abrupt.
The game components are beautiful, and I especially appreciate the attention to detail in the artwork and the high-quality pieces. I found myself drawn into the world of Astoria and its magical inhabitants. The familiars, in particular, are a fantastic addition to the game, offering a variety of actions and strategic possibilities.
Overall, Lizard Wizard is a fantastic game that I highly recommend. It's a great choice for fans of strategic board games, especially those who enjoyed Raccoon Tycoon. Be prepared for a longer play time, but the experience is definitely worth it!
