Maglev Metro
Maglev Metro review
Maglev Metro is a game that I've been eager to try for a while now, and it did not disappoint! The theme of building a high-speed rail system is really engaging, and the components are top-notch. The clear acrylic track tiles are just beautiful, and they add a unique visual element to the game as you create your routes.
The gameplay itself is relatively straightforward, but there's a lot of depth to the strategy. You'll need to balance building tracks and stations, collecting passengers, and upgrading your engine to maximize your points. I especially like the "pick-up and deliver" mechanic, which makes the game feel more dynamic and engaging. The drafting mechanic for the bonus cards is also a nice touch, adding an element of competition without making the game too cutthroat.
Some reviewers have mentioned that the color scheme is a little odd, and I can see what they mean. The gold and copper robot tokens are a bit hard to distinguish, but that's a minor quibble. Overall, I think Maglev Metro is a great game for gamers of all levels. It's easy to learn, but offers plenty of replayability thanks to the different maps and scoring options.
I definitely recommend checking out Maglev Metro if you're looking for a fun, strategic game with beautiful components. It's a great choice for a casual game night with friends or a solo gaming session.
