Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game
Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game review
I've been a fan of Legend of the Five Rings since the original collectible card game, and I was excited to try out this new Living Card Game. The game is set in the same world of Rokugan, and it captures the spirit of honor, nobility, and intrigue that made the original game so popular. I've played a number of Fantasy Flight Games' Living Card Games, and this is one of my favorites. It has a great feel and the core set is amazing value for the price. I could easily see myself putting in 100 hours of gameplay with just a couple of core sets.
One of the biggest changes in this new version is the way decks are built. In the original CCG, you could build your decks from any cards you could find. In this LCG, you build a deck from the cards in the core set and then add expansions to it. This means there's less of a chance to get dupes, and it also makes the game more balanced.
The game is a bit complex, but it's also very rewarding. It takes some time to learn the rules, but once you get the hang of it, the strategic depth is amazing. The game has a great feel and is definitely worth playing if you're a fan of L5R or other card games. If you're new to L5R, I highly recommend it. It's a great way to experience the world of Rokugan.
I do have to point out a few downsides. First, you need three core sets to build a complete deck, which can be a bit pricey. Second, the game is primarily a two-player game. I wish it was more multi-player friendly. Finally, the rules are not as clear as they could be. It took me a couple of games to figure things out.
Overall, I think Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game is a great game. It's complex and strategic, and it has a ton of replay value. I would definitely recommend it to any fan of card games or the Legend of the Five Rings universe. Just be prepared to invest some time and money into it.
