Great Western Trail: Argentina review
Great Western Trail: Argentina - A Beefy Expansion to a Classic
I've been a big fan of Great Western Trail for a while now, so when I heard about Argentina, I was excited to see what new twists it would bring. I was not disappointed!
The core gameplay is still very much there - deck management, the rondel mechanism, upgrading your player board - but Argentina adds some exciting new elements that really shake things up. The farmers are a great addition, requiring strategic planning and offering new avenues for resource management. The grain mechanic is also a welcome addition, adding another layer of complexity to the already rich gameplay.
I found the new paths on the game board to be very engaging. The choice between buildings and farmers is a tough one, and the shortcuts can really give you a strategic edge if you play your cards right. The new exhaustion cards add another layer of tension, forcing you to carefully manage your resources and pace.
The solitaire challenge is also fantastic. Pedro is a tough opponent, but it's incredibly rewarding to beat his score. It's a great way to play the game solo, and it's a great way to practice your strategies.
Overall, I highly recommend Great Western Trail: Argentina to any fans of the original game. It's a well-designed expansion that adds a lot of depth and replayability. I'm already looking forward to my next game!
