Skymines Review
I've been wanting to try Skymines for a while now, especially after hearing how similar it is to Mombasa, a game I've always admired. And let me tell you, it doesn't disappoint! While some folks prefer the original's aesthetics, I found the sci-fi theme of Skymines refreshing and engaging.
The core gameplay is fantastic. It's a classic Euro-style game with a focus on strategic resource management and careful planning. I particularly enjoyed the card programming mechanic – it adds a layer of complexity and strategic depth that keeps you on your toes.
Skymines offers plenty of replayability. There are various modules and scenarios to explore, including a double-sided board and different corporation bonus tracks. This means you can constantly switch up your strategies and have a fresh experience with each play.
The setup time and space are definitely something to consider. It takes a while to get everything laid out, and it does require a decent amount of table space. But for me, the engaging gameplay and replayability more than make up for it.
If you're a fan of heavy Euro games or if you're looking for a more modern take on the classic Mombasa, I highly recommend giving Skymines a shot. It's a solid, well-designed game that offers plenty of strategic fun.
