Teotihuacan: City of Gods
Teotihuacan: City of Gods review
Teotihuacan: City of Gods is a game that has quickly become a favorite in our household. It's a mid-weight euro game with a clean design and tons of replayability thanks to the many modules. The setup can be a bit of a chore (around 15-20 minutes), but once you get everything in place, the game really shines.
I love how the game has so many ways to win. The rules are straightforward and repetitive, but the depth comes from the strategic decisions you have to make. It takes a bit of time to get the hang of all the iconography, but I find it's worth it for the richness of the experience.
The game has a lot going on, with resource management, building, and worker placement all coming together. It can feel a bit overwhelming at first, especially with the amount of pieces involved, but the rules are fairly simple once you understand the basics.
While I wouldn't recommend this game to someone who is new to Euro games, if you enjoy games like Tzolkin, you'll probably appreciate Teotihuacan. It's a deep and complex game that is definitely challenging but rewarding.
I do have one small criticism: the resources are very basic. However, this is a minor quibble compared to the overall quality of the game. I highly recommend Teotihuacan to any board game enthusiast looking for a challenging and rewarding experience.
