Courtisans review

Courtisans is a delightful little game that packs a surprising amount of strategic depth into a simple, easy-to-learn format. I've found myself drawn to it again and again, especially when looking for something quick and fun to play with friends or family.

The game's core mechanic is incredibly straightforward: you play three cards each turn, influencing the Queen's favor and your own standing. This simplicity makes it accessible to players of all levels, but the strategic choices you make with your cards can lead to some truly satisfying wins.

I particularly appreciate how Courtisans manages to be both playful and mean-spirited without ever becoming overly aggressive. There's a certain charm to the "Nyaah nyaah, gotcha!" element, without ever turning into a truly malicious experience.

One small caveat, as mentioned by another reviewer, is the cloth playing field. While aesthetically pleasing, I would have preferred cardboard for its durability.

Overall, Courtisans is a fantastic "filler" game that I wholeheartedly recommend. It's a great choice for evenings when you're looking for something light and engaging, and its beautiful artwork only adds to the overall experience.
