Bitoku
Bitoku review
Bitoku is a beautiful, complex game that took me a while to get to the table because of its intimidating rulebook. While the artwork is inspired by Japanese mythology and is mostly kid-friendly, the sheer number of mechanics and options can be overwhelming at first. But, don't let that discourage you. Once you get past the initial learning curve, Bitoku is a rewarding and engaging experience.
The game features a unique blend of mechanics, including card drafting, set collection, worker placement, engine building, and even some math at the end when calculating points. The game is modular, allowing for different player counts and a variety of starting tiles to change the game's flow. However, even with the modularity, the core gameplay loop remains consistent, so you'll eventually see everything the game has to offer.
I'd definitely recommend Bitoku to those who enjoy complex games and are willing to put in the time to learn the rules. It's a fantastic game for a group of experienced gamers who are looking for a challenging and rewarding experience. If you're looking for a quick and casual game, this might not be the best choice for you. But, if you're willing to commit to the learning process, Bitoku can be a truly amazing game.
