7 Ronin review

7 Ronin is a fantastic two-player game that pits a band of ninjas against seven ronin defending a village. The game has a simple, but compelling, premise - the ninjas win by controlling five areas of the village, while the ronin must survive eight rounds. What makes 7 Ronin really stand out is its asymmetric gameplay. Each side has its own unique set of strategies and challenges to overcome.

I personally love the mind games that 7 Ronin encourages. You're constantly trying to anticipate your opponent's moves and outsmart them, which leads to some really intense and satisfying moments. The game also has a surprising amount of depth, even though it's relatively easy to learn. The different abilities of the ronin and the village areas provide plenty of room for experimentation and strategic decision-making.

However, not everything is perfect. The game does have a couple of minor drawbacks. Some reviewers mentioned that the ninja pieces can be a bit fiddly and the board doesn't clearly convey all of your options in each sector. But, honestly, I haven't found these to be major issues. The overall gameplay is so engaging that I can easily overlook these minor flaws.

If you're looking for a quick and satisfying two-player game with a unique theme and plenty of strategic depth, I highly recommend 7 Ronin. It's a game that I've enjoyed playing again and again, and I'm sure you will too.
