Quartermaster General: 1914
Quartermaster General: 1914 review
I've been a fan of the Quartermaster General series for a while now, and Quartermaster General: 1914 definitely doesn't disappoint. It does a fantastic job of capturing the complexity and scope of World War I in a surprisingly accessible way.
The card-driven system is brilliant. You're constantly juggling your resources, planning your moves, and reacting to your opponents' strategies. There's a real sense of tension as you try to balance your offensive and defensive capabilities, knowing that a single miscalculation could lead to disaster.
I particularly appreciate how the game encourages cooperation. While you're ultimately competing against each other, there's a strong incentive to work together within your team to achieve victory. This adds a whole new layer of strategy and intrigue to the gameplay.
The game might seem a little overwhelming at first glance, but the rules are actually very straightforward. I found it easy to pick up and play, even with multiple nations under my control. The card play is intuitive and rewarding, and the strategic depth is phenomenal.
If you're looking for a challenging and engaging wargame that's both fun and historically accurate, Quartermaster General: 1914 is a must-have. I can't wait to see what other historical conflicts Ian Brody brings to life in future installments!
