Tides of Madness
Tides of Madness review
Tides of Madness is a fun, quick, and engaging two-player drafting game. It's a sequel to Tides of Time, but with a new twist: madness. While the core gameplay remains similar, the addition of madness tokens introduces a new layer of strategy and risk. You need to carefully consider which cards to draft, as some can drive you to madness, while others offer powerful benefits. I like that it's a more interesting twist than the original, but not overly complicated.
The artwork on the cards is beautiful, with a distinct Lovecraftian feel. The game components are high quality and the rulebook is easy to follow. I especially appreciate the rulebook's design, which mimics a scientist's journal - a nice touch.
The game plays very quickly, which is great for a casual game night or a quick break. While the game is fun and engaging, I found that the limited number of cards can lead to a bit of repetition after a few plays. This is a great game to play with a friend if you're looking for a quick, strategic game.
However, I've enjoyed the game so much I don't mind playing it multiple times. It's a great game for introducing new players to card drafting games, and it's surprisingly deep for such a simple design.
