Troyes
Troyes review
Troyes is a game that has been on my radar for a while, and I finally had the chance to pick it up. I've been playing it with a few friends and I'm really enjoying it. It's a complex game with a lot of options, but it's also very rewarding. The core mechanic of buying dice from other players is really unique and creates a lot of interesting strategic choices.
The game is beautifully produced, with great components and art. The rules are clear and concise, and the gameplay is smooth and engaging. I really appreciate that it plays well with 2-4 players, making it a great option for both solo and group gaming.
One thing I found a bit frustrating is that the iconography can be a bit confusing, which can slow down gameplay, especially for new players. While this is a great game with many good points, I am in agreement with some of the reviews I've read that this game could use an extra dice per player that isn't available to buy. The expansion includes that, but it feels like it should've been in the base game.
Overall, I highly recommend Troyes to any experienced board game player looking for a complex, strategic, and engaging game. It's definitely not a gateway game, but it's a fantastic game for those who enjoy deep gameplay and lots of replayability.
