Targi
Targi review
Targi is a two-player strategy game that has quickly become a favorite in our household. It's easy to learn, but offers a surprising amount of depth, making it a game that can be enjoyed by both casual and experienced gamers. The game is set in the Sahara Desert and involves players competing to build the most powerful Tuareg tribe. The game is played on a 5x5 grid, with a border of 16 squares that represent different actions and a center of 9 blank squares that are filled with cards. Players take turns placing their “workers” on the border squares, which allows them to collect resources, play tribe cards, and gain victory points. The central cards are shuffled and then randomly placed on the board, ensuring no two games are ever the same.
The game play is incredibly engaging. Each turn requires careful planning and strategy as you try to anticipate your opponent's moves and block them from accessing the resources or cards you need. The game also has a unique “take that” element, which adds a bit of spice to the competition. I found the gameplay to be quick and engaging, with games usually lasting between 30 and 45 minutes.
The components are well-made, with sturdy cards and wooden pieces. The only downside is that there isn't a dedicated game board, so you have to set up the cards every time you play, which can get a little tedious, especially since the border cards are always the same.
Overall, I highly recommend Targi to anyone looking for a fun and engaging two-player strategy game. It's a perfect choice for a game night with your partner or a friend. Just be prepared to put on your thinking cap, because Targi is a game that will challenge your strategic mind.
