Star Wars: Destiny – Two-Player Game review

Star Wars: Destiny - Two-Player Game is a fantastic introduction to the Destiny card game system. The included decks, featuring Rey and Kylo Ren, are well-constructed and provide a great sense of how the game plays. I especially enjoyed the thematic connection to the latest Star Wars movies, and the cards in each deck synergize very effectively. However, be warned - if you're a Star Wars fan or susceptible to collectible card game addictions, this set could lead you down a costly path. But don't worry, you can still have a blast with just this set. I played dozens of games before adding more booster packs and never got bored.

The game itself is brilliantly designed, with simple rules that are easy to grasp. Players take turns performing actions like playing cards, activating card abilities, rolling dice, or resolving dice results. The strategy comes in deciding when to take certain actions, making for interesting and tense gameplay.

What sets Destiny apart is the inclusion of dice. Many key cards have associated dice that are rolled when the card is activated. The dice symbols determine your actions - attacking opponents, gathering resources, modifying other dice, or triggering special abilities. Some card game purists might dislike the added randomness, but I think it works wonderfully.

Overall, if you're a Star Wars fan or curious about Destiny, this is a phenomenal starting point. The gameplay is enjoyable, the characters are iconic, and the inclusion of new cards inspired by The Last Jedi adds a nice touch. Just remember that while you can have a lot of fun with just this starter set, the collectible nature of the game might tempt you to expand your collection – and your wallet!
