Rauha
Rauha review
Rauha is a card drafting and tableau building game that's easy to learn but offers some interesting strategic choices to keep you engaged. The game takes place over 4 rounds, and you play as a Shaman trying to bring life back to your devastated world. It’s a relatively quick game (around 45 minutes) with a unique action selection mechanism based on the location of your avatar on your player board. I like the earthy aesthetic and simplicity of the components. There's a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun, and the artwork is beautiful. I did see in the games I played that there was an unfair advantage with the player who has the water benefit. Otherwise, it's a great straightforward game.
The components are well-made, with thick cardboard and decent cards. I especially like the cute wooden meeples that serve as player avatars. The art is a nice touch, with intuitive iconography that becomes clear after just a few turns. The only thing I would have liked to see improved is the crystals, which are cardboard instead of plastic/resin. Also, the box is a bit too big and could have benefited from an insert.
Overall, I would recommend this game to anyone looking for a quick, fun, and strategic game with a unique action selection mechanism.
