London (Second Edition)
London (Second Edition) review
London (Second Edition) is a fantastic game that I've really enjoyed. It's a strategic card-driven game that really gets you thinking about your city's development and how to balance growth with poverty. The card mechanism is unique and I love that you're all playing your cards simultaneously, making for some tense decisions. The artwork is gorgeous, and the components are high-quality, making the game feel substantial.
I've played it with both 2 and 4 players, and it's fun at both player counts. While it can take a little bit to get the hang of the rules, once you understand them, it's pretty straightforward to play. The replayability is high, as the card drafting aspect allows for many different strategies. It's not the kind of game you'll play all the time, but it's definitely a great addition to any game collection. It's especially great for eurogamers, like myself.
Some reviewers have mentioned that the game can feel repetitive after a while, but I haven't found that to be the case. I've really enjoyed the challenge of building a thriving city while keeping poverty in check. I understand that some players might prefer more direct interaction, but I find the strategic aspect of the game to be engaging enough. The game definitely has a great balance between complexity and accessibility, and I'd highly recommend it.
