Legendary Encounters: The X-Files Deck Building Game
Legendary Encounters: The X-Files Deck Building Game review
As a huge fan of the X-Files, I was immediately drawn to this game. The theme is spot-on, and the game captures the show's atmosphere perfectly. I was a little hesitant at first, as I'm not a huge fan of deck-building games in general, but I was pleasantly surprised. The gameplay is engaging, and the deck-building mechanic is fun and strategic. I particularly like the "The End" mechanic, which adds a sense of urgency and tension to the game. I'm also a big fan of the Evidence cards, which add another layer of complexity and strategy. If you are an X-Files fan, I highly recommend this game. Even if you aren't a fan of the show, you will probably enjoy the gameplay.
One thing I've noticed that's different from other Legendary games is that the recruit cards are face down, and you have to scan them twice. The first time to reveal the card, and the second time to recruit it. This adds a little bit of risk and surprise to the game, as you never know what you're going to get. I think it's a clever mechanic that really adds to the overall theme of the game.
The game can be a little tough at first, but it becomes easier as you learn the mechanics and build up your deck. There are also some really great mechanics in place to make the game more strategic, like being able to collect Evidence cards to weaken the End card.
I've only played it a few times so far, but I'm already hooked. I can't wait to play it again and see what other twists and turns the game has in store.
