Legacy: Gears of Time review

Legacy: Gears of Time is a really unique and engaging card game that focuses on time travel as its core mechanic. The game is played on a timeline that expands with each round, and players compete to place their influence cubes on technologies and build a chain of advancement from the past to the present. What I found particularly fascinating is that you actually have to travel backwards through time, strategically placing technologies in specific eras to create a strong foundation for future developments. For example, you might need to establish fire and the wheel in earlier time periods to unlock the potential of the combustion engine in a later period. The game's intricate mechanics and the strategic challenge of managing technology dependencies really kept me on my toes.

The artwork in the game is absolutely gorgeous, with vibrant colors and clever designs that really bring the theme to life. It's also very well balanced, allowing for a variety of playstyles and strategies. I've particularly enjoyed playing it with my husband, who enjoys games with depth and strategy. We found it to be just the right length, taking around an hour or so to complete a game. We haven't played it with more than two players, but it seems like it would be a fun experience with a larger group as well.

Overall, Legacy: Gears of Time is a game that I would highly recommend to any board game enthusiast looking for a creative and engaging experience. It's a truly unique game with a clever time-travel mechanic that makes it stand out from other strategy games. It's a great choice for couples or families who enjoy playing games with some challenge and a lot of replay value.
