Android: Infiltration
Android: Infiltration review
I've been wanting to try out the Android universe for a while now, but I was hesitant to commit to the big, complex core game. When I saw Infiltration at my local game store, I was excited to see a smaller, quicker entry point. It's a fairly straightforward "Push Your Luck" game with a cyberpunk theme that's quick to set up and play. I really enjoyed the intense pressure of the alarm timer and the way you have to balance grabbing data with getting out before security arrives. There are some great items and abilities to pick up along the way as you infiltrate the facility, and I loved the way the game is constantly changing with its randomized room layouts.
That being said, I do find myself wishing it had a little more depth. My gaming group found the randomness of the data chips to be a bit frustrating. You can have a great run, but if you get stuck with all the low-value chips, it can be tough to catch up. It also felt like the game could benefit from more player interaction. While you can sabotage each other, it's mostly focused on individual play. Overall, it's a fun, quick game, but not one that I'd recommend as a centerpiece for a game night. If you're looking for a quick, thematic cyberpunk fix, Infiltration is a solid choice. But if you're looking for a deep strategic game, you might want to look elsewhere.
