Horrified: Greek Monsters review

I've been a big fan of the Horrified series ever since the original release, and I was thrilled to see a new version with a Greek Mythology theme. While I do wish they had maybe gone with a London monster theme (Jack the Ripper, Springheel Jack, etc.), this is still a solid addition to the Horrified family.

The game features a lot of the same mechanics as the previous games, but with some interesting new twists. For example, you now have to uncover the monsters' lairs before you can even start to fight them. This adds a new layer of strategy to the game, as you need to carefully consider which lairs to uncover first. The heroes in Greek Monsters also have more unique abilities than in previous iterations, which keeps the gameplay fresh and exciting.

I especially enjoyed the new ways to defeat the monsters. For example, to defeat Cerberus, you have to roll dice and match the faces on the locks to open the Underworld and send him back. This is a much more challenging task than simply rolling a few dice and hoping for the best!

The components in Horrified: Greek Monsters are top-notch. The board is colorful and sturdy, and the figurines are just as beautiful as those in the American Monsters version. The Perk cards and monster cards are a bit flimsy, but they're still well-designed.

However, there are a few minor downsides. One is that some of the hero abilities are not quite as well-balanced as others. Also, the monster mats can be a bit flimsy and easy to bend. Finally, the rules for the monsters could have been more detailed.

Despite these minor issues, Horrified: Greek Monsters is still a fantastic game that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys the series. If you're a fan of Greek Mythology, you'll especially appreciate this version.
