Dojo Kun
Dojo Kun review
Dojo Kun is a game that truly surprised me. It's a worker placement game with a unique martial arts theme, where you train your athletes and lead them to victory in tournaments. The game has a surprising amount of depth, considering its relatively simple mechanics.
The setup involves each player managing a dojo with different specializations, and the goal is to build up your dojo and train your athletes to win the tournaments. The worker placement mechanic allows you to manage your resources and train your fighters, and the combat system, using custom dice, adds an element of chance that keeps things exciting.
What I found particularly interesting is the inclusion of a solo mode, which is a welcome addition for those who prefer to play alone. The game is also very well-designed, with beautiful artwork and high-quality components.
While the game can be a bit long for four players, the gameplay is very fluid and engaging. The strategic aspects of training your athletes and planning your moves keep you constantly thinking, and the excitement of the tournaments is palpable.
I was hesitant at first, as there weren't many reviews available, but I'm glad I took the leap. Dojo Kun is a fantastic game, and the high-quality components and beautiful artwork definitely make it feel like a premium product. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys worker placement games, martial arts themes, or just a good, strategic challenge.
