Kingsport Festival
Kingsport Festival review
Kingsport Festival is a fantastic game! It's a dice-rolling worker placement game set in the terrifying world of H.P. Lovecraft, where you play as a cult leader attempting to spread your influence and worship ancient evils. The game has a lot of depth and interesting mechanics that keep it engaging.
I was initially drawn to the Lovecraft theme, but I was pleasantly surprised by the gameplay. The dice rolling and worker placement aspects are well-implemented and the game is easy to learn, though it has enough strategy to keep it interesting. I particularly enjoyed the way the game handles combat, with the investigator's strength changing depending on the scenario and the players' actions.
I find the artwork and flavor text on the Elder Gods cards to be amazing. The game is dark and atmospheric, and it really captures the Lovecraftian feeling of cosmic horror.
While the game is a bit on the lighter side, it's still a fun and engaging experience. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys euro-style games with a bit of a dark twist.
However, the game does have a few drawbacks. It's a bit on the longer side, and some players may find the lack of direct player interaction a bit disappointing.
Overall, I really enjoyed Kingsport Festival and I highly recommend it.
