MegaCity: Oceania
MegaCity: Oceania review
MegaCity: Oceania is a truly unique city building game that combines dexterity, light strategy, and creativity. It's not just about building a city on a board, you actually get to construct a unique city every time you play! The game is set in the future, where towering superstructures are built on floating platforms to combat overpopulation and rising sea levels. Players take on the role of architects, competing to collect contracts, construct buildings, and score prestige points.
I really enjoy the hands-on aspect of the game. You're constantly building and maneuvering your pieces, which makes it very engaging. I've found that it's easy to learn the rules, but there's still plenty of room for strategy and creativity. The game also has a great visual appeal, with all of the different colored building pieces and platforms.
I've played this game with both adults and children, and everyone seems to enjoy it. It's a great game for family game night or a fun evening with friends. My 8 and 11 year old boys particularly love the challenge of moving their buildings, and the game can get really intense towards the end as everyone races to score the most prestige points.
One of my favorite things about MegaCity: Oceania is that it's a game that you can play over and over again without getting bored. Every game is different, as you build a new city each time. The game is also surprisingly competitive, but it's the kind of competition that's fun and engaging rather than mean-spirited. If you're looking for a city-building game that's actually fun to build, then you should definitely check out MegaCity: Oceania!
