Disney Villainous: Despicable Plots
Disney Villainous: Despicable Plots review
I recently added "Disney Villainous: Despicable Plots" to my collection, and I'm happy to report that it's a worthy addition. I was a bit hesitant at first, as some reviews mentioned misprints and a less-than-stellar design for the new villains. However, I'm glad I didn't let those concerns deter me.
The misprints, while annoying, are not game-breaking. It's good to know that Ravensburger is known for addressing these issues quickly, so I wasn't too worried. As for the villain designs, I found them to be quite engaging. Gaston's strategy requires patience and big moves, while Lady Tremaine offers a unique and satisfying level of control over the fate deck. The Horned King, though a bit slower than the others, boasts compelling game options and a fun tug-of-war gameplay.
I especially appreciate the thematic depth of each villain's gameplay. Lady Tremaine's cards capture the essence of her manipulation and control, while Gaston's cards reflect his ambition and manipulation of Belle's affection. The fate deck, filled with heroes and effects from each villain's movie, adds an enjoyable layer of interaction between players.
I've found that the more I play, the more I enjoy these new villains. Each one offers a unique challenge and a rewarding experience. I'm looking forward to exploring their strategies and developing my own playstyle. If you're a fan of the base game or other Villainous expansions, I highly recommend adding "Despicable Plots" to your collection. It's a fun, strategic addition that brings a fresh perspective to the game.
However, I do want to echo some of the concerns about the packaging. I received my copy in a bag instead of a box, which unfortunately led to some minor damage to the box. It's a shame, as the game components themselves are of high quality.
Overall, I'm very happy with this expansion and am eager to see what other villainous plots Ravensburger has in store for the future.
