Call to Adventure: Epic Origins
Call to Adventure: Epic Origins review
I recently picked up Call to Adventure: Epic Origins and I have to say, it's a fantastic addition to the original Call to Adventure. The high fantasy theme is right up my alley, and the new Heritage cards add a great layer of customization to character creation. I really appreciate the expanded solo and co-op options too - the double-sided Adversaries and Campaign Mode offer a lot of replayability.
Some reviewers mentioned that the player boards are a bit flimsy and the Experience tokens are cardboard instead of plastic. I haven't personally noticed these issues, but I can see how they might be a concern for some players. The card backs are also slightly different from the original game, which could be a bit of a distraction for some. However, these are minor aesthetic points and don't affect the overall gameplay.
What I really enjoy about Epic Origins is the way it encourages storytelling. The ability to build a character backstory and even convert your final tableau into a 5th Edition D&D character is a great bonus for any RPG enthusiast. I've found myself getting really invested in the stories I create while playing.
Overall, I highly recommend Call to Adventure: Epic Origins. It's a fun and engaging game that's perfect for solo play or a group of friends. If you're looking for a great way to spark your imagination and create some epic tales, this game is definitely worth checking out.
