Beacon Patrol
Beacon Patrol review
Beacon Patrol is a charming cooperative tile-laying game that's easy to learn and play, making it a perfect choice for families or casual game nights. The premise is simple: you're Coast Guard captains working together to secure beacons and lighthouses along the North Sea coast. You place tiles to expand the map, move your ships, and try to explore as much of the sea as possible.
I really enjoyed the puzzle-like aspect of the game. It felt like we were working together to complete a jigsaw, with everyone weighing in on the best moves. The minimalist artwork is quite appealing, and the final completed board looks very nice.
One thing I found a bit confusing was the movement tokens; they felt a little redundant. However, I do like the expansion cards, but only once you've mastered the core game.
My favorite aspect is how the game encourages communication and collaboration. While you can choose to play individually, working together to maximize exploration is much more rewarding.
Overall, I'd recommend Beacon Patrol for anyone looking for a light, fun, and engaging co-op game. It's a great choice for families with younger children and adults who enjoy a more relaxed gaming experience.
