Alchemists
Alchemists review
Alchemists is a fascinating game that throws players into a world of potion-making and scientific deduction. The concept is unique and engaging, with players competing to discover the secrets of alchemy by mixing ingredients and testing their results. The game's use of a smartphone app (available on iOS, Android, and Windows) to randomize the rules of alchemy adds a fresh layer of complexity and replayability.
I'm a big fan of board games that involve logic puzzles, and Alchemists definitely hits the spot. The process of elimination to figure out the makeup of each reagent is a lot of fun, and I love the artwork, layout, and pieces included in the game. However, the game does have a steep learning curve, and the first game may take a bit longer as you familiarize yourself with the rules. It's definitely worth the effort, though. Once you understand the rules, you can expect a game to last around two hours.
Some people in my gaming group have struggled to grasp the game's complexity, so it's not for everyone. If you're looking for a light, casual game, Alchemists might not be your cup of tea. But if you enjoy strategy board games and puzzles, I highly recommend giving it a try. The game is incredibly well-designed, and it offers a truly unique and rewarding experience.
