Root
Root review
Root is a truly unique board game experience. The concept of each player controlling a distinct faction with their own rules and victory conditions is incredibly compelling. I’ve played several times now, and each game has felt completely different due to the faction I’ve chosen. It’s definitely not a game for beginners – there’s a steep learning curve involved, especially if you're not used to asymmetrical games. However, once you grasp the basics, it’s incredibly rewarding. The depth of strategy and the sheer number of ways to play make it a game you can keep coming back to. My favorite thing about Root is the tension and intrigue that comes from having to constantly react to your opponents' moves. It really feels like you’re constantly in a game of chess against everyone at the table. I've found it very enjoyable to play with different groups, and I can easily see how it would appeal to both experienced and new board gamers. The artwork and production quality are also excellent, adding to the immersive experience. Overall, I'd highly recommend Root to anyone who enjoys strategic games with a unique and compelling theme.
