Watergate
Watergate review
I was intrigued by the idea of a game about Watergate, and Watergate certainly delivered! It's a tense and engaging two-player game that puts you in the shoes of either a Washington Post journalist trying to uncover the truth or the Nixon Administration trying to cover it up.
The game is surprisingly strategic, with each player having their own unique set of cards that represent key figures and events from the Watergate scandal. You'll have to carefully consider how to play your cards, using their values to move tokens on the board or their actions to influence the game in your favor. The tension ramps up as you try to connect evidence to Nixon or block the journalist's progress.
One thing I really liked about the game is that it's fast-paced. A game usually takes around 30-60 minutes, so you can easily get in a few rounds in one sitting. It's also a great game for learning about Watergate, even if you're not a history buff. The cards provide a lot of information about the scandal, and the gameplay itself helps you understand the dynamics of the situation.
I'd recommend Watergate to anyone looking for a fun and engaging two-player game with a unique historical theme. It's a great way to spend an hour or two and learn something new in the process.
