Struggle of Empires
Struggle of Empires review
Struggle of Empires is a great game for anyone who enjoys strategic, empire-building games. The game does a great job of capturing the essence of the 18th century, with its focus on European powers vying for dominance. I particularly like the game's mechanics, which allow for a lot of player interaction and strategy. The game is also very well balanced, meaning that no one player has an unfair advantage. I have to say that the alliance system is a brilliant touch. It adds a whole new layer of strategy to the game. It requires careful consideration about who to ally with, and when. I think it really adds a lot of depth to the game.
Some reviewers have mentioned that the game has a steep learning curve, but I found it to be quite easy to learn. It has a simple rulebook, and once you get the hang of it, the gameplay is fairly straightforward. Of course, the game does get more complex as you start to learn the intricacies of the different tiles, and the different ways to use your military units. But, I think it's a good kind of complexity. It's a game that can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels.
The one thing that I did find a little frustrating is that the game can slow down a bit towards the end of each war. It's a minor complaint, though, and doesn't really detract from the overall enjoyment of the game. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who enjoys strategy and empire-building games. It's a great game for groups of 3-7 players, and it's sure to provide hours of fun.
