Polis
Polis review
I recently had the pleasure of playing Polis, a two-player civilization game set in ancient Greece. The premise is simple: build your empire, conquer your opponent, and amass the most prestige. But what truly sets Polis apart is its depth and strategic complexity.
From the moment I opened the box, I was impressed by the high quality of the components. The artwork is beautiful, and the game board is a work of art in itself. The rules are clear and concise, but there's a lot to learn and master, which makes for a very engaging experience.
I particularly enjoyed the balance between military conquest and diplomacy. While you can certainly wage war to expand your empire, you can also choose to use your resources and influence to persuade other city-states to join your cause. This adds a layer of strategic depth that I haven't seen in other civilization games.
The game can be a bit time-consuming, especially if you're playing with someone who is new to the game. But for those who enjoy strategic thinking and complex games, Polis is a must-have. It's a challenging and rewarding experience that I highly recommend.
