Relic
Relic review
Relic is a fantastic board game that takes the classic Talisman system and throws it into the thrilling Warhammer 40,000 universe. The setup can be a bit time-consuming, especially the first time (it took me about 20 minutes to punch out all the tokens and build the character dials), but it's well worth it. The quality of the components is top-notch, and the game itself is visually stunning with fantastic art and detailed miniatures.
As a fan of Talisman, I was immediately drawn to Relic's familiar gameplay, but with a refreshing twist. The game offers a good mix of strategy and luck, and the ability to customize your character through leveling up and acquiring new items keeps things engaging. I especially love the power cards, which provide a welcome addition to the Talisman system.
Some have criticized the game's length, which can easily reach 3-5 hours, but for me, that's part of the appeal. It feels like a true adventure, and the time spent exploring the board and battling enemies is well worth it. The game also offers a good amount of replayability thanks to the different characters, missions, and win conditions. I've enjoyed each game I've played so far, and I can see myself coming back to it for many more adventures to come.
Overall, Relic is a fantastic board game for fans of Talisman, Warhammer 40,000, or just a good, old-fashioned adventure game. If you're looking for a game to spend a few hours with friends, Relic is a great choice.
