Red7
Red7 review
Red7 is a quick and easy-to-learn card game that's packed with surprising depth. I was initially drawn to its simple premise: be the last player standing by winning each round, or be eliminated. What I found was a game that's deceptively strategic and fun, with a surprising amount of tactical depth hidden beneath its simple rules.
The game is played with a deck of 49 cards, each numbered 1 to 7 and assigned a color of the rainbow. The game is won by being the last player remaining in the round, and each round plays out very quickly. Each player has a "Palette," a face-up card, that dictates the current rule, and the goal is to play a card on your turn that ensures you're winning under the current rule, or to change the rule itself by playing a card to the "Canvas," the discard pile. The rules can be simple to pick up but require a lot of thinking to master. It's a great game to play when you're short on time, and I found myself playing multiple rounds in a row.
There are a few advanced rules as well, but even without them, the game provides a satisfying challenge. It's not just about having the best hand, it's about making strategic plays to outsmart your opponents and stay in the game.
The game's components are well-made and the card design is attractive. It's a great game to take with you on the go, and it's sure to be a hit with friends and family.
