Rattlebones review

Rattlebones is a unique and engaging game that stands out with its innovative dice-building mechanic. You start with basic six-sided dice, but throughout the game, you can change the faces to create dice that give you special actions like re-rolling, gaining points, stealing from other players, or moving the train (which is worth points). It's a lot of fun to pop out the old faces and replace them with new ones, and the game feels dynamic and exciting with the constant change.

The theme of the game is a whimsical carnival, and the artwork and components are well-made. I especially love the little Rattlebones meeple! He moves around the board in reverse, and when he reaches your score marker, the game ends. The game is a bit lighter on strategy than some might like, but there are still some interesting choices to make as you try to build dice that maximize your points and outwit your opponents.

However, Rattlebones does have a few downsides. Some reviewers mentioned that the game can be a bit slow at times, especially in the beginning. The setup can also be a little tedious, as there are a lot of small pieces to organize. But overall, I think the game is well worth it for its fun factor, unique gameplay, and great components. It's perfect for families and casual gamers who are looking for a light and enjoyable game to play with friends.
