Polynesia

Polynesia is a really engaging area control game where you have to save your tribe from a looming volcanic eruption. It has a quick setup and gameplay, which I really enjoyed. The game ends when you draw all the lava tokens from a bag, which means the volcano erupts. It definitely makes the game feel more intense and forced me to change my strategy throughout the game.

I found the game to be pretty easy to learn, though I do agree with some of the other reviews that it has a decent amount of directions and a lengthy setup for a game of its length. I'd say it takes about 30 minutes to play. I do wish there were more than six tokens you had to draw because it always feels like the game ends so quickly, but it does make the gameplay feel more intense.

Overall, if you like strategic map-based games but don't want to be sitting for hours, I would definitely suggest this game.
