Pente review

I've always enjoyed abstract strategy games, and Pente has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. This 20th anniversary edition is a great update to the classic game, with a deluxe roll-up game board and six sets of colored glass markers. The quality of the components is excellent, and the board is sturdy and easy to roll up for storage.

Pente is a game that's easy to learn, but hard to master. The basic rules are simple: players take turns placing their markers on the grid, trying to get five of their markers in a row or capture five pairs of their opponent's pieces. However, the game quickly becomes complex as players develop strategies and try to anticipate their opponent's moves.

I found that the roll-up board was a little bit smaller than the original Pente board, and the grid lines were tan instead of black. I also noticed that the glass stones were a little bit smaller and lighter than in the original version, and the colors were softer. These are minor quibbles, however, and the game is still a lot of fun.

The 20th anniversary edition of Pente is a great way to introduce friends and family to this classic abstract strategy game. It's a fun and challenging game that's sure to provide hours of entertainment. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new game to add to their collection.
