Chess
Chess review
I recently purchased Chess for my family, hoping to introduce my kids to the game. I was a bit intimidated at first, as I myself haven't played chess in years. However, the reviews for this set were so positive, and the learning curve seemed manageable. I'm happy to report that it was a great purchase!
The No Stress Chess set is designed to teach the fundamentals of chess in a fun and engaging way. The included deck of cards features each piece with clear illustrations of how it moves, making it easy for beginners to grasp. The game progresses through three levels, starting with simple one-card draws and gradually introducing more strategic options with three and then five-card hands. This makes the game accessible for even young children and helps them develop their strategic thinking as they progress.
While some reviewers criticize the reliance on cards and argue that it detracts from the strategic element of chess, I found it to be a huge advantage. It allowed my kids to focus on learning the mechanics of the game without the pressure of making complex strategic decisions. My six-year-old caught on quickly and enjoyed the game immensely. After a few games with the cards, he was ready to try a standard game, and his understanding of the pieces and their moves was already solid. He's even started asking to play without the cards, which is a great sign that he's ready to move on to the next level.
Overall, I think this game is fantastic for anyone who wants to learn chess, regardless of age or experience level. The No Stress approach makes it accessible and enjoyable for both beginners and those who haven't played in a while. It's a great way to introduce the world of chess, and I'm confident that my kids will continue to enjoy and learn from it for years to come.
