Mistfall: Heart of the Mists
Mistfall: Heart of the Mists review
Mistfall: Heart of the Mists is a fantastic standalone expansion that builds upon the foundation of the original Mistfall game. I was initially hesitant about getting this, because I loved the original, but this really blew my expectations out of the water. The game feels much more streamlined compared to the first game, thanks to the removal of time cards and the introduction of Allies.
I particularly love the new Ally cards! They add a whole new dynamic to the game, allowing you to build strategic partnerships with powerful companions. And the heroes are fantastic! Each one has a unique set of skills and abilities, making them feel truly distinct and rewarding to play. The new enemies are equally impressive, with some truly challenging encounters that kept me on the edge of my seat.
However, the game does have its quirks. The rulebooks for each hero can be quite dense, and it took me a while to fully grasp the intricacies of each character's abilities. It's definitely not a game for those who prefer simpler rules. Additionally, the game can take a considerable amount of time to play, especially with a full group of players. This is something to consider if you're looking for a quick gaming experience.
Overall, I highly recommend Mistfall: Heart of the Mists. If you're a fan of cooperative card games, then you absolutely need to check this one out. It's a great standalone experience, and a fantastic addition to the original Mistfall game. And if you're new to the series, this is a perfect starting point.
