A Game of Thrones: Catan – Brotherhood of the Watch
A Game of Thrones: Catan – Brotherhood of the Watch review
As a seasoned Catan player, I was excited to try out the "A Game of Thrones: Catan – Brotherhood of the Watch" expansion. It's not just a re-skin of the classic game; it introduces a whole new layer of strategy and tension.
The core mechanics of Catan are still there: resource gathering, trading, building settlements and roads, but the "Brotherhood of the Watch" scenario adds the thrilling challenge of defending the Wall against Wildling invaders. I found this added depth to the game really engaging and it definitely keeps you on your toes.
The new game elements are well-designed and fit seamlessly into the overall Catan experience. The hero cards offer unique abilities that add an extra layer of strategic decision-making, and the Wildling invasion mechanic creates a sense of urgency that wasn't present in the base game.
While the rulebook can be a bit daunting at first, I found that the game itself is relatively easy to learn once you get the hang of it. I'd recommend watching a tutorial video or two before your first playthrough, as some of the new mechanics are more easily understood visually.
Overall, I'm a big fan of "A Game of Thrones: Catan – Brotherhood of the Watch." It's a fun, challenging, and engaging expansion that I would highly recommend to any Catan fan. It's certainly a worthy addition to my game collection.
