CATAN: Starfarers
CATAN: Starfarers review
Catan: Starfarers is a fantastic addition to the Catan universe, taking the familiar resource management and trading mechanics to a whole new level. It's a space-themed version that feels fresh and exciting while still retaining the core Catan gameplay. The variable game board is a fantastic addition, providing endless replayability and strategic depth. The "choose your own adventure" style encounter cards really add a sense of excitement and unpredictability to the game.
I'm a huge fan of the original Catan and its expansions, and this game definitely holds its own. The inclusion of technology upgrades, alien encounters, and the new colonization system adds a layer of complexity and strategic planning that I really enjoy. It's a bit more involved than the original, but the gameplay feels more dynamic and exciting.
My only gripe is that the game does require a lot of table space, and can take a while to set up. But, once you're rolling those dice and building those space colonies, you'll be hooked. If you're looking for a more strategic, complex, and engaging Catan experience, this is definitely worth a try. I highly recommend it to any Catan enthusiast, or anyone looking for a great space-themed board game.
