Dominion: Intrigue review

Dominion: Intrigue is a great addition to the Dominion series, offering a fun, strategic, and flavorful experience. I was initially drawn to the Intrigue theme, which adds a layer of deception and manipulation to the gameplay. I've always enjoyed the core Dominion mechanics, and Intrigue does a great job of expanding on those mechanics without introducing too much complexity.

While I appreciated the new cards, I was a little disappointed that the second edition no longer includes the Treasure and Victory cards from the original Intrigue, which meant I needed to purchase them separately for larger games. This felt like a missed opportunity, especially since the product description initially led me to believe they were included. However, I understand that the company needs to make a profit.

Overall, I found the new cards to be well-designed and engaging. They offer a nice variety of strategies, and the “choose two” options on some of the cards add an extra layer of decision-making. I especially enjoyed the “dual-purpose” cards that act as both Treasure and Victory, or Action and Victory. These added a new dynamic to the game and made for some interesting decisions.

If you're a fan of Dominion and looking for a way to add more variety and intrigue to your games, this expansion is definitely worth checking out. Just be sure to pay attention to the description and make sure you have the necessary cards for the player count you want to play with.
