Fresco
Fresco review
Fresco is a delightful game that brings the Renaissance to life. It's a clever mix of strategy and resource management where you become a master painter, restoring a fresco in a beautiful church. The core gameplay is simple enough for casual gamers, but with the included expansions, it quickly becomes a challenging and engaging experience for those who want to dive deeper.
I really enjoyed the different ways to approach the game, depending on how many expansions you choose to use. The "wake up" mechanic, where you decide when you'll start your day, adds a unique twist to turn order and resource management. It's fun to try and balance getting the best resources with the risk of upsetting your apprentices.
I found the game's components to be high quality, especially the paint cubes, and the artwork is gorgeous. The game does have a learning curve, but the rules are clear and easy to understand. I think the box organization could be improved, as several reviews mentioned finding it difficult to put everything back in its place.
Overall, I highly recommend Fresco. It's a versatile game that offers a variety of playstyles, and it's sure to be a hit with both families and more experienced gamers.
