Axis & Allies: Pacific review

Axis & Allies: Pacific is a fun, fast-paced game that captures the strategic complexities of the Pacific theater in World War II. I've enjoyed playing it, and it's definitely a step up from the original Axis & Allies in terms of depth and strategic options. I especially appreciate the new rules for combat air patrol, air and naval bases, and the addition of destroyers and submarines. It also brings back the naval combat that was lacking in the original game. The game can get a bit long, though, especially if the players are new to the system, and the victory conditions for the Japanese player can feel a bit unfair. Even though some reviewers complained about the game being unbalanced towards Japan, I have to say I haven't experienced that in my games. I found that the Japanese player actually has to play very strategically to win, and the Americans can still win if they play correctly. Overall, I would highly recommend Axis & Allies: Pacific to fans of the original game, but if you are looking for a shorter, more casual game, this is probably not the one for you.
