Risk 2210 A.D.
Risk 2210 A.D. review
Risk 2210 A.D. is a fun and engaging update to the classic Risk formula. The futuristic setting, with its mechanized troops (MODs) and special commanders, provides a fresh take on the familiar territory-grabbing gameplay. I especially appreciate the inclusion of command cards, which add a layer of strategic depth and unpredictable elements to the game. I found myself constantly adjusting my plans based on the cards drawn, making for a more dynamic and exciting experience.
One of the most welcome changes is the five-turn game limit. While traditional Risk games can drag on for hours, this version forces players to make decisive moves and keeps the game feeling fast-paced and intense. The energy mechanic also adds an economic dimension, requiring players to carefully manage their resources for purchasing command cards, bidding for turn order, and hiring new commanders.
While some reviewers have mentioned issues with the quality of the cardboard pieces, I personally found them to be durable enough for regular play. I also appreciate the country count sheet, which makes it much easier to track territories and income than in the original Risk. However, I do agree that the game could benefit from some organization aids, as the numerous pieces can be a bit chaotic to manage.
Overall, I highly recommend Risk 2210 A.D. to anyone looking for a more strategic and engaging version of the classic Risk game. It's a great choice for those who enjoy the core Risk gameplay but want a bit more depth and excitement.
