Anunnaki: Dawn of the Gods review

I've always been a sucker for a good 4X game, and Anunnaki: Dawn of the Gods definitely scratches that itch. The premise is intriguing – you're an ancient alien civilization desperately searching for a new home, and Atlantis is the prize. The game does a fantastic job of capturing that sense of desperation and ambition, and the different Houses (factions) each have their own unique strengths and weaknesses, making for some interesting strategic choices.

The game's mechanics are clever, especially the starred action-selection system. It gives you the choice between building up your power over time or taking a more reactive approach, jumping around the board to capitalize on the situation. This system adds a lot of depth and strategic nuance to the game, and I found myself constantly re-evaluating my plans based on the actions of my opponents.

One of the things I appreciate about Anunnaki: Dawn of the Gods is the minimal role of luck. While the game does have some elements of randomness, the focus is primarily on strategic decision-making, which is exactly what I look for in a eurogame. The game's production value is also excellent, with beautiful art and well-made components.

If you're a fan of 4X games, or even if you're just looking for a complex and engaging eurogame with a unique flavor, I highly recommend Anunnaki: Dawn of the Gods. It's a game that's sure to stay on my table for a long time to come.
