Valeria: Card Kingdoms review

I was really excited to try Valeria: Card Kingdoms. The description sounded right up my alley - a tableau-building game with a fantasy theme, kind of like a more complex Machikoro. I'm a big fan of deck-building games, and this one promised some interesting twists.

The gameplay itself is pretty straightforward. You roll dice, activate your citizens, and take actions to build your kingdom and defeat monsters. The card-buying mechanic is cool, as the cards you buy can benefit you and other players on their turns. It definitely adds a strategic layer to the game.

However, I agree with some of the other reviewers that the game can get a bit repetitive after a few plays. While the card combos are fun, they don't offer much in the way of deep strategy or variety. I'm also not sure about the expansions. Based on other comments, they seem to just add more of the same, which isn't really what I'm looking for.

Overall, Valeria: Card Kingdoms is a solid game, especially for fans of the genre. It's easy to learn and has a fun, engaging theme. If you're looking for a more complex or nuanced game, you might want to check out something else. But if you want a quick and enjoyable experience, Valeria is definitely worth a try.
