Unmatched: Little Red Riding Hood vs. Beowulf
Unmatched: Little Red Riding Hood vs. Beowulf review
Unmatched: Little Red Riding Hood vs. Beowulf is a fantastic addition to the Unmatched series! It's a two-player duel featuring two wildly different characters, both with unique playstyles. Little Red Riding Hood utilizes a clever card-combo mechanism, where matching icons on her cards to those in her "basket" (discard pile) triggers powerful effects. On the other hand, Beowulf uses rage to power up his cards for devastating attacks. I found both characters to be very well-balanced and enjoyable to play.
The artwork and component quality are top-notch, as expected from Restoration Games. The miniatures are beautifully sculpted and the board is visually appealing. However, I agree with other reviewers that the map could have been more diverse, as it's the same on both sides.
This set is definitely not for beginners to the Unmatched system, as both characters have some complex mechanics. But if you're already familiar with the game, or you're a fan of asymmetrical strategy games, then this set is a must-have. I particularly enjoyed Beowulf's gameplay, and Little Red's ability to dominate the game if you're not careful is a welcome challenge.
Overall, I highly recommend Unmatched: Little Red Riding Hood vs. Beowulf. It's a great addition to the Unmatched series, offering a fun and strategic duel with two iconic characters.
