Unfair
Unfair review
Unfair is a fun and strategic card game where you build your own theme park and compete with others to create the most impressive and profitable attraction. The game is easy to learn, but offers enough depth and replayability to keep you entertained for many sessions.
I was immediately drawn to Unfair's theme and its promise of cutthroat competition. The game's mechanics are simple enough, but they create a lot of interesting strategic decisions. Do you focus on building tall attractions, scoring points by matching blueprints, or simply accumulating cash? The choice is yours, and it's constantly evolving as new cards are drawn and events unfold.
One of the things I really appreciate about Unfair is the way it uses theme packs to add variety to the gameplay. Each theme has its own unique set of cards and mechanics, so you can create a truly unique experience every time you play. For example, the Vampire theme introduces mesmerism tokens that can be used to steal your opponent's staff members, while the Pirate theme encourages players to amass treasure and plunder each other's parks.
Unfair can be a little mean-spirited at times, as players can use "take that" cards to sabotage each other's parks. However, these cards are often optional, and there are also ways to defend against them. In fact, I find the strategic tension created by these cards to be one of the most engaging aspects of the game. It's a constant battle to balance your own growth with the need to protect yourself from your opponents' machinations.
The components in Unfair are high quality, with beautiful artwork and a solid game board. The card quality is a little flimsy, but this is a minor complaint considering the overall design and value of the game.
If you're looking for a fun and strategic card game that offers a lot of replayability, Unfair is definitely worth checking out. It's a great choice for groups of 2-5 players, and it's sure to provide hours of entertainment.
