TIME Stories Revolution: The Hadal Project
TIME Stories Revolution: The Hadal Project review
I've been a fan of TIME Stories since its initial release, and I've eagerly awaited each new expansion. While some have been more hit-or-miss than others, they've generally provided a unique and engaging experience. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for The Hadal Project.
The new "blue cycle" introduces a resource management system with Azrak, which initially felt like a refreshing change from the Time Unit system. However, the mechanics of The Hadal Project felt less forgiving and overly reliant on chance. The Destiny cards, particularly, can be incredibly frustrating, often punishing players for bad luck, even when investing significant resources.
The story itself was also a bit underwhelming. It wasn't as engaging or as well-developed as some of the previous scenarios, and I found myself feeling a bit indifferent to the plot. The ambiguity surrounding critical gameplay elements, like the importance of certain conversations, only added to the frustration.
I recognize that everyone has different preferences, and some players might enjoy The Hadal Project. However, for me, it unfortunately felt like a step back for the series. The lack of clarity, the heavy reliance on chance, and the somewhat forgettable story left me feeling disappointed. If you're a die-hard TIME Stories fan, it might be worth giving it a try, but be warned – it might not live up to the expectations set by previous expansions.
