SCOUT
SCOUT review
SCOUT is a card game that I've been enjoying a lot lately. It's simple to learn but offers a surprising amount of strategy and depth. The core mechanic of playing sets of cards, either by value or in consecutive order, feels familiar to other games, but the fact that you can't rearrange your hand adds a layer of complexity that keeps things interesting. The "Scout" mechanic, where you can take a card from the current set and add it to your hand, adds another layer of strategy. I really enjoy the feeling of trying to figure out what my opponent is holding and how to best take advantage of their cards.
The game plays quickly, with a round taking about 7 minutes, making it perfect for a quick game session or for a longer game night with multiple rounds. It also travels well, as the box is small and the components are durable. The artwork is cute and charming, and the overall presentation is great.
I do have one minor gripe, which is that the tokens are a little bit of a mess in the box. I ended up just keeping the scout tokens in a little baggy, which made setup much easier. Other than that, I have nothing but good things to say about SCOUT. It's a great game for anyone who enjoys card games and is looking for something quick, strategic, and fun.
